The flowers bloom as a dense cluster of yellow around a stalk in a column shape. The petals are daisy like, with an inner ring of petals curling around the center and an outer ring of 5 petals jutting straight out. By early fall the flowers grow into round dusty blue berries.

The stems grow tall, sporting 2-3 leaflets and a cluster of the yellow flowers. The stem is bright red, in contrast to the green leaves.

WHERE TO FIND IT:
Oregon Grapes are native to western North America, and are found all around western Montana. It grows along the forest floor in shaded areas. It lives in patches due to the root systems shooting up new plants around it.
