So you want to breed your mare! Here are instructions on how to make that happen and come out of it with the foal you are dreaming of...

  1. Check out your fitness for this project and make sure this is a good idea for you and your mare.
    1. Do you have a realistic understanding of what this entails?
    2. Do you know how much this will cost?
    3. Is your mare a good breeding prospect? (Do a pre-breeding exam)
  2. Learn a little about the basics of the breeding process between horses.
  3. Decide if you want to breed A.I. or Live Cover.
  4. Understand how contracts work and what a Live Foal Guarantee is.
  5. Start choosing your stallion (or evaluate the one you are thinking of).
  6. Contact the breeding ranch and sign a contract.
  7. Get your mare ready to breed.
