My husband, Dave, is never truly happy when I start pulling out the horse packing gear and strewing maps around the dining room. I know he worries about me. And I don't want to make that any worse than it has to be.
We have a deal that I contact him once every 24 hours to let him know that all is well. He bought me a Garmin InReach Explorer, portable solar panel and extra battery, so that I could text him even when far out of cell range. With that I know I can always reach him and I know that if I get into trouble he will help me sort out what to do. His support from home is invaluable in keeping me safe and able to do these trips. |
