Striking and a bit unusual, this flower is made up of large numbers of jutting petals that stick out from a central hub, forming a relatively roundish bloom.

Leaves
Leaves are opposite, two together on opposite sides of the stem, interspersed up the stem every 6 or so inches. They are bright green with a minty smell and are slightly toothed along their edges.

The root is a shallow rhizome, reach down multiple feet into the ground. Each one grows a new stem to create new plants.

WHERE TO FIND IT:
Common on sunny hillsides, slopes and in gullies and open woods.
