FULL SIBLINGS:  Leo Robin
TRAINING LEVEL:  professionally trained for trail riding
EXPERIENCE:  A lifetime of trail experience. She is experienced in every aspect of trail riding.
GAIT: not a gaited horse
BREEDING: Smudge is an experienced broodmare and still has some babies left in her. She is homozygous tobiano (guaranteed to throw paint foals). Check out her latest foal, Stormy, here!  Smudge is a GREAT choice for a broodmare - she still has a number of babies in her.
TEMPERAMENT: Smudge is experienced and unfazed by most situations, but she is also strong minded and can choose to take advantage of timid riders. Right now she is very attached to her two pasture buddies and can be a pain when asked to go out without them. When with them, she can be ridden by beginners and is very good at taking care of her rider. It's hard to judge how she will do at first when she is without them, but, as she adjusts to her new life, she should steady out. She has the potential to be an anyone-can-ride horse except that, by her own choice, she sometimes decides to give inexperienced riders a hard time.

PERSONALITY: Sumdge is a matriarch - strong and sure of her own place in the world. She doesn't suffer fools gladly, and can take advantage of you if she thinks you're not up to her weight class, but she capable of forming a deep partnership with a rider she respects and, when her respect is given, it really means something. She does better with a rider who gives her respect in turn - one who doesn't just want to force her obedience but who can be both strong and understanding at the same time.

If she respects you, she will cary lesser riders for you - she doesn't demand that its only you in the saddle - as long as you ask her to. She is a beautiful mare who knows trail riding inside and out and will make a strong trail partner for many years yet.

HER STORY: Smudge has lived with her present owners for almost 15 years. She had one baby for them and a few before they got her. She is an excellent broodmare and homozygous with wonderful paint markings (this means guaranteed to pass on the paint gene). She has been their riding horse for years and is now their go-to horse for guests and grandkids. She is in love with her pasture-mate, Tiko, and has had a good, happy life in this home. Despite her age, she has not slowed down or shown any signs of physical problems.

HER IDEAL LIFE:
We always strive to find our horses the best match we can - a person who wants what they want out of this special relationship, and can help them have the best life possible for their individual personality. Are you the right match for
SMUDGE?

Smudge wants to live with other horses whom she can bond to and become family with. One or many, it wont matter, but she wants to be part of a herd. She also wants to belong to an owner who knows how to stand up to her and appreciates her strengths - one who is her equal, whom she respects, but also one who understands her and respects her back. She'd love trail riding, horse packing, hunting and having babies.

Smudge has been owned by our neighbors for many years. They are sad to see her go, but are no longer riding, and know she needs more out of life than to sit in a pasture all day. To contact us about her, click here!
