BREED: German Shepherd Dog
AGE: 11 years
GENDER: Female
COLOR: Red and Black
HER STORY:
This precious girl is one of the finest dogs I have ever known. Kind, dedicated, smart, joyful and loving, she is everything you could want in a German Shepherd dog.
Jana was born in Germany in June of 2008, and at 2 years of age, took 9th place in the world in the international Schutzhund competition in Germany. She has achieved the highest Schutzhund rating possible (SCHH3), and has been certified with the highest possible marks for hip and elbow health (Hip: SV: HD a-normal (a1) - Elbows: SV: ED a-normal (a1)).
As a young adult, Jana was purchased by Five Peaks German Shepherds, in Colorado, to be one of their premier breeding dogs. For years, she constantly produced high quality pups. Many of her pups have had the intelligence, drive and sensitivity to be Seizure Alert dogs or have gone on to become effective Service Dogs of all kinds.
In 2014 Five Peaks was looking for a good home for Jana to retire to. After so many years of faithful service, they wanted her to finally have a family of her own. We were looking for an exceptional female German Shepherd Dog to adopt for our family. We wanted to breed her once in order to produce a future Service Dog for Christie, then have her spayed, and let her live out her life with us. It was a match made in heaven, and we could not have found a better match for our dreams and our needs.
Jana produced the puppy we needed, then settled into becoming a perminant and beloved part of our home and our lives. When I found Jana, I knew we were getting an exceptional dog, but I had no idea the depth and strength of the bond that would develop between us. Though, in personality, she is as different from my past dogs as ever she could be, I can honestly say that I have never had a dog to whom I bonded harder or whom I have loved more. It has been a privilege and a joy to see Jana blossom, these past three years, as she discovered the fun and the joy of being "just a dog" and having people of her own. With few responsibilities and a truly needed role in our homes and our hearts, she has become one of the most joyful, fun-loving, care-free dogs I have known. She is completely dedicated to us and ready always and at a moment's notice to play in any and every way.
