Boulder Oaks campground

Basics of Boulder Oaks Campground:
  • Part of the Cleveland National Forest, Descanso Ranger District 619-445-6235
  • The only equestrian site on the Descanso ranger district
  • 14 horse sites ($17/night single, $28/night double) 30 camp sites ($16/night single, $32/night double)
  • on the PCT
  • water available
  • No reservations available for camping sites, but some websites say that you can (or even need to) reserve equestrian sites. However, the ranger I spoke to said this was not necessary.
  • Vault toilets but no showers
  • Usage is light
  • Open year round, but closed in March to protect the breeding season of an endangered species of frog that lives here.
